First graduated Remote Medical Scribes in Bangladesh

Augmedix Bangladesh celebrated “Augmedix Achiever’s Night” for the first graduated Remote Medical Scribes in collaboration with the LICT of the ICT Division, Govt. of Bangladesh and the MCS, University of Dhaka On 5th November 2017. The event focused on vivid vision of the company’s strategy and exciting career growth opportunities for Scribes across Bangladesh. Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, The Honorable State Minister, ICT Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology attended the event as the Chief Guest. Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, MP and Mr. Tapan Chowdhury, Managing Director of Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd.were also present as Special Guests. Mr. Ian Shakil, CEO and Co-founder of Augmedix Inc. and Mr. Rashed Mujib Noman, Country Director of Augmedix Bangladesh, focused on the vision of the organization as well as career path of the Scribes in Bangladesh.

Augmedix Inc. was founded by Ian Shakil and Pelu Tran in 2012 in San Francisco. The company is a documentation automation platform powered by human experts and software that frees physicians from computer work and allows them to focus on what matters the most: patient care. Augmedix gives providers a team of real-time, quality-controlled, and customized remote scribes. Scribes are the documentation specialists who can remotely see and listen to partner doctors via Alphabet’s (Google) innovative Glass hardware and collect the patient’s medical information, in real-time. In 2017, the World Economic Forum designated Augmedix Inc. as a Technology Pioneer. In 2016, Augmedix Inc. was named the most innovative healthcare company in the world by Fast Company.

Currently the company serves nearly 1,000 doctors across America’s most prestigious national health systems such as: Sutter Health, Dignity Health, CHI, TriHealth, Christiana Care, and Eastern Maine. Augmedix Bangladesh started its initial R&D engineering operations in early 2013 and has been growing and diversifying its employee base. The Augmedix Bangladesh building was declared as “Software Technology Park” in 2016. In 2017, the company was awarded the 1st Runner-up Award (Health and Well-being Category) in the 1st BASIS ICT Award. Augmedix Bangladesh presently has more than 200 scribes, doing live scribing or are in various stages of training. By 2018, the company is planning to train and employ another 500 scribes. SI 2, a venture of Square, collaborated with Augmedix Bangladesh in 2016 to accelerate the hiring, training, and employment of scribes across Bangladesh. Recently, it signed partnerships with ACE and Select Marketing to further speed up recruitment initiatives. As the company develops partnership with other organization, it is hoping to be able to recruit more scribes.
